THE FUNDRAISING HIGHLIGHT ZONE
The DFA PTO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, and all funds raised or donated are utilized to bridge the gap and provide the needed funds to ensure that our students, faculty and staff have the resources needed to continue their inspiring pursuit of excellence.
A FEW HIGHLIGHTS OF PTO FUNDRAISING EFFORTS ARE:
Hospitality Events
- Back to school breakfast
- Winter Holiday celebration dinner for the faculty and staff
- End of the year fish fry for faculty and staff
Budget Fill the Gap Items
- $100 school supplies for all 53 teachers ($5300)
- $700 for the nurse program + donated supplies
- $500 per sports team
- Special AP Training for faculty who teach AP courses
Graduation and Honors Items
- $1500 college scholarship for a graduating senior
- DFA graduation cords
- DFA end of the year award plaques/awards for both Middle and High School ($2,500)
Special Items
- Timpani heads
- Stackable storage bins
- Science lab supplies
- Software for various academic programs
- Athletic banquet funding
- Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl Books
Year-round campus beautification (both monetary and elbow grease support)
Schoolwide Special Projects
- Mosaic Courtyard Fountain, which included a visiting artist and involved nearly all areas of curriculum—art, design, math, science ($4,000)
- Visiting artists, such as world renowned trumpet player
The PTO’s two main sources of fundraising are PTO memberships (including donations) and the Silent Auction held during the Spring Fine Arts Festival.
